Each of the women we work with has a story to tell. They have hopes and dreams that they rarely have an opportunity to share. Most of our artisans can't read or write. Several of them were married at 13 years of age. Many of them have endured domestic abuse and neglect. It has taken time (and several cups of chai!), but our artisan ladies TRUST me with their stories. One artisan lady sat at my desk recently and poured out her heart for 30 minutes.
